I’m Kristiina Luuk, also known as KLUUK.
I’ve been quietly working with textile paints for many years, but recently it has become part of my daily practice. I've set myself the goal of deeply exploring different paints, dyes, materials, and techniques, while pushing my creativity as far as it can go.
Although I’ve created digital images and had them printed onto garments, I find much more joy in the hands-on process of working directly with textiles. The feel of color-stained hands, the smell of paint, textures, surprises, and unpredictable outcomes—there’s more risk involved, but that’s part of the magic.
What I also love about painting fabric is its practical aspect—you can wear the final piece.
Images on paper or canvas, which I also create, serve a different purpose. They live only in the viewer’s mind. But images, shapes, patterns, and happy accidents on textiles move around, visit cafés, and live their own lives. I find that fascinating.
In the future, I also plan to learn sewing, which will open up even more possibilities for creation. I have so many ideas and directions I’d love to explore.
